I don’t think you guys understand, but this is why so many artists are like “just fucking pirate it.” Get it from the library, pirate it, get it secondhand, whatever you need to do, because distributors (like platforms that host content, ie Netflix) take all the money and do none of the work. They would have nothing to distribute without writers and other creators, but they still take all the money and consistently give creators absolutely garbage deals (11 cents per word, anyone? Two thousand dollar advances on a book with the expectation that, because they also offered you no additional marketing, you will never earn royalties? 20% royalties /if you’re lucky/?). Fuck platforms and distributors, support creators directly.
